During a certain period, the standard allows for a 10% overload on the continuous power for 1 hour within every 12 hours. This means that if you purchase a unit with a main power of 400kw, you can run it at 440kw for 1 hour within 12 hours. If you purchase a unit with standby power of 400kw and do not overload it, running it at 400kw means that the unit is actually always in an overloaded state (since its actual rated power is only 360KW). This is very detrimental to the unit and will shorten its lifespan and increase the failure rate.
